Municipal waste and industrial & commercial waste are the most considerable waste to produce Alternate fuel. Municipal solid waste is anything from a typical household, such as food waste, paper, glass, plastics, textiles, carpets, cardboard, small metal pieces, stones, food waste, and many other things. Whereas, commercial and industrial waste consists of plastic, paper and paperboard, rubber, resins, wood, metals, glass, and organic materials.
Pre-shredded waste material with size is up to 150mm with a calorific value of 9 to 11 MJ/Kg is ideal for refuse combustion plants and power plants.
Shredded MSW with a size up to 80mm with a calorific value of 16 to 18 MJ/kg is used as the substitute fuel. This is utilized in a power plant for energy recovery and co-incineration in cement plants for calciners.
Shredded MSW with a size up to 30mm with a calorific value of 18 to 22 MJ/kg is used as the substitute fuel. It is used as fuel in the injection furnace in power and cement plants.
